Meditation. It helps you relax, teaches you to ‘be present’, and improves awareness. Plus, more and more psychology-based studies by universities like Harvard are being published all the time that associate stress reduction and increased cognitive functioning with a meditation practice.  This thousands of years old practice is taking hold, and just like yoga, there’s no stopping it.

Lately I’ve been realizing how much I want to share meditation. I did my first ten-day intensive course in Thailand in 2005, and have completed five more since. After attending a workshop at U.B.C this past weekend, I’ve decided to start hostig introductory workshops at Bikram Yoga White Rock to start, with the intention to share the practice of mindfulness – specifically Vipassana meditation – with as many people as I can.

Even the U.S Government website is listing the benefits of meditation in helping various illnesses. It’s amazing how much research is being done in the field of therapy on what’s called Mindfulness Integrated Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. It is a transformational practice with what seems like innumerable benefits.

I’m planning a full day workshop for the middle of January overlooking the ocean (more on that soon), but this coming weekend, Jai, the owner of BYWR and I have decided to put on a small, intimate workshop from 1pm – 3pm at the studio.
